12:25 am - SUCCESS!

After having owned an Xbox 360 since the morning they came out, I'm finally on Xbox Live. Gamer tag is "LOL its Marquez" for anyone interested in playing online with me :D! I spent half the evening playing Castle Crashers, and the other half playing Left 4 Dead online. Left 4 Dead is awesome, and my second game in I got the coveted "All for dead" achievement, meaning I personally killed all 4 survivors in 1 match as a zombie! (Granted, it was more luck than skill. I got the tank and sent a car hurtling down the narrow alley they were all in and crushed them all in 1 fell swoop.) But I digress, Live is a blast, and much more gaming will ensue. For now, it's time to sleep, I'm running on an hour and a half of sleep in 2 days and I've been up since 3am yesterday XD

I feel like a migratory animal! I've been tagged for a meme, so here it goes. 16 things about me, followed by 16 songs at random from my winamp (since I don't have an iPod) with "in my pants" added to the end of the song title.
1. I've been using the alias Revelsinblood since I was 13.
2. I was the second kid in the US to play the SNES before it was released. (the 1st kid was the son of the president of Namco, who arrived at Namco HQ about 20 minutes before I did. My dad was good friends with the Vice President of Namco at the time.)
3. I've met Shigeru Miyamoto face to face, in person, TWICE. Once at Namco HQ when I was a kid (see above) and once when I was working at Nintendo of America in Redmond Washington.
4. I'm not a big fan of cake, unless it's ice cream cake.
5. I've been out of the country only once in my life, and that was a couple day vacation in Mexico for a friend's birthday when I was like....10.
6. I've been to Disney World, and it was awesome. The Epcot Center has areas for pretty much every ethnicity from around the world, and each once has restaurants that serve that country's cuisine...I could literally live there and be happy for the rest of my life.
7. When I was in 2nd grade I climbed about 40 feet up a eucaliptus tree when I thought I was going to be in trouble on the playground. The teachers that were keeping an eye on us didn't see me go up the tree and panicked, thinking I had hopped the fence and left school grounds. I came down after about 10 minutes, and everyone was completely freaking out. Looking back on it, it was kind of awesome.
8. I've taken a standardized IQ test once and only once. My results put my IQ at 136.
9. I don't know how to eat slowly. Ever since I was a kid my only speed for eating has been "inhale".
10. When I grow out my facial hair, the strip directly under my bottom lip comes in salt and pepper black and grey. I don't know why.
11. My moods are very easily influenced by music.
12. I'm convinced that there is no dish that can't be improved by the addition of some form of cheese.
13. I'm utterly addicted to goldfish crackers. I consume one of the huge 2 pound containers of them every week or two.
14. I have a tremendous weakness for redheads.
15. When I was young I took a few years of martial arts and have always wanted to get back into classes, but haven't had the time or money.
16. I have a preoccupation with the paranormal.

12:40 am - New Year
|
So 2009 is here, and it feels like 2008. Maybe it's just me, but life seldom seems to actually change enough to feel different, and when it does, it's usually not good for me. I guess it's good that it feels the same then. ANYWAY. Since I had to open on the 1st I didn't get to go to the big party with everyone else, but a few friends were kind enough to come keep me company for the night. Big thanks to them, I really do appreciate that a lot. Being alone on new years would have sucked. Perhaps 2009 will bring big changes for me, perhaps not. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to some positive changes. Only time will tell. Speaking of time... time to sleep. In closing, welcome to you 2009, please be kind.

1) What was your FIRST video game console?
Nintendo Entertainment System. The original NES baby.
2) Name a few games you played on said console.
Bionic Commando, anything with Mario in the title, Zelda, Metroid, etc.
3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?
Let's see... NES, Turbo Graphix 16, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, PSX, Sega Dreamcast, Virtual Boy (technically not a handheld, and yes, I actually own one.) PS2, Gamecube, X-Box, and X-box 360.
so....12. Including handhelds, bring that number up to 16 (classic gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, and DS) and they all still work.
4) Were you a Street Fighter nut? Any character in particular?
Hated Street Fighter. Still do. Never been a fighting game fan. Import Naruto games and Smash Bros being the only exceptions.
5) Do you think Capcom is a FUCKING awesome company with kickass character designs?
Capcom is a decent company. They have some games that are great, and some that lick ass.
6) Here's the scenario.. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
I'd at least ask them to wipe them off first.
7) What's your favorite RPG/Action RPG?
Secret of Mana. Hands down one of my favorite RPGs of all time.
8) Do you prefer 2D games or 3D games?
I love them both, but I think I prefer 3D games, they give me more room to explore.
9) Are you an SNK fan?
Nope.

I was ok at it at one point in time, but I haven't played in so long I would venture probably not anymore.

I'd love to see updated graphics and full motion cut scenes on these games. They all had such incredible stories. Yeah I know, I'm a Squaresoft fanboy.

As much as I love Sonic, I have to go with Mario. The peppy Italian plumber has brought me much joy throughout my lifetime with his game series.
17) When a movie shows up in the theaters, let's use Spider-man as an example, are you likely to buy the GAME version?
God no. Movie games are almost always terrible. Spiderman is just the exception to the rule.
18) What is your LEAST favorite genre of video games?
Fighters. I hate them. so much.

Bioshock was really really amazing, it got a lot of love, but was promptly forgotten.

I'm in a constant state of verbally abusing games.

I think more than half of my shirts are video game related.

1. What are your nicknames?

2. What do you do before bedtime?
Surf the series of tubes we know as the internet, then crawl into bed and stare at the ceiling for about half an hour until my brain winds down enough to stare at the inside of my eyelids for another 15 or so minutes before finally falling asleep.
3. What fandom(s) are you most into at the moment?
World of Warcraft, Exalted, Dresden Files.
4. What is your favorite scent?
it's impossible to pin one as my favorite. My world is so rich with scents, and there's so many good ones. Most of the time I'm glad my sense of smell is so overactive. I'd say my favorite smells are probably the complex personal scents of certain people though. Some people just smell really good.
5. What videogames are you playing at the moment?
World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy Tactics A2.
6. What do you eat the most?
Meat, in some form or another. I'm very carnivorous.
7. Do you trust easily?
No, but once I do trust someone, they have it until they completely break it.
8. What was your first big fandom?
Ghostbusters.
9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Some days my lack of romantic life makes me unhappy, and others I'm perfectly happy being single. It comes and goes really.
10. Do you have a good body-image?
I do, but it could be better. 4 years of deskjobs withered away whatever muscle I once had, so I'd like to motivate myself to work out and get my tone back.
11. What's one childhood item that you still have with you today?
Childhood item? I think I left most of them behind when I went to Seattle. The oldest keepsake I still have is the lucky yen piece Amanda brought me back from Japan in high school.
12. What websites do you visit daily?
Daily? I don't think i visit any site daily. I'm pretty scatterbrained when it comes to the interwebz. The most common sites would be LJ, Gaia, and Hotmail though.
13. Who are currently the most important people to you?
My friends. I don't tend to keep very many people close, but those that are close to me are irreplaceable.
14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
Both of the people that tagged me are as close as friends can get. To describe them would take hours. Suffice it to say that I'd step in front of a loaded gun for either of them.
15. What’s the last song that got stuck in your head?

16. What’s your favorite item of clothing?
My black jacket. I'm super excited it'll be cold enough out to wear it again soon :D

That depends entirely on to whom we're talking about giving to, and what we're talking about receiving.

Petite, pale, and dark haired. I also have a thing for unnatural hair and eye colors. *shrug*
19. What would you like to achieve within the next 3 years?
I'd like to achieve wealth beyond imagining and/or super powers. Realistically I guess I'll try for working toward my BA though.
20. What should you be doing right now?
Sleeping. I'm worn the fuck out since I've been working every day I don't have school for the last 2 1/2 weeks.
21. Do you always use conditioner when washing your hair?
I can't use it every day or my hair gets very very greasy. I do however condition my hair 2 to 3 times a week depending on need.

As against myspace as I am, I keep finding myself asked to make one. It seems like every time I'm sure I don't want one, someone I want to keep in contact with tells me I should make a myspace for myself. I've been steadfast in my avoidance of the dreaded site since its inception, but it seems almost impossible to get away from people asking me to make a myspace so they can keep up with me. Problem is I KNOW I won't check the damn thing. I check my LJ maybe twice a week (and that's if I manage to remember to check it at all.) I haven't posted in it in how many months? Myspace just seems like one more thing I won't keep track of. What do you guys think? Should I break down and set myself up on myspace finally?

Well, so much for sleep. I was going to try to get a couple hours of sleep before work at 4 AM, but that didn't happen. Instead I stared at my ceiling in the dark for an hour and a half. *shrug* So, got up, took a shower, got ready for work, now I'm sitting here killing time, listening to music, wondering how loopy I'm going to be by the time I get to the party after work. Oh well, if there's one thing life has taught me it's that nothing ever goes according to plan. Hopefully I'll be functional when we get there and much swimming will ensue. We'll see.
